The most sustainable festival in the world?

Because of my dear house mate Tony, I've been learning a lot about editing videos and audios for the web. He's been teaching me various things, this vlog being one of the projects, so this is the first video that I have ever made (p-p-p-p-proud!)

I'm basically talking about Way Out West, which is like the most awesome music festival I know and there is a good reason why I think many vegans and vegetarians can agree.

Please be aware that it's not the most serious video, but you who know me, knows that I'm not the most serious person either.

Love!

The vegetarian haven in Mount Eden: Blue bird cafe

After an amazing hot yoga session on Saturday morning, me, Danni, Guy and Scott walked back to Mount Eden, down on Dominion road to go for a brunch at Blue Bird Cafe. I've walked passed this little gem so many times and always smiled because of the huge sign that says "Vegetarian Restaurant" but have never actually tried it - until today of course!

If I'm disappointed in myself for not going here before? YES.

Their menu have soooo many different things on it and the price is cheap for being Auckland and yes, as usual, it was really difficult to choose. I just wanted everything!

They do breakfast such as pancakes and more dinner-y meals and desserts (so many different vegan cakes!), everything is vegetarian and alot of things are vegan as well. I had the vegan BLT sandwich which was absolutely delicious!

And since I have the best BF in the world I also got to the vegan pizza slice, which I'm so happy he suprised me with as a dessert as this slice of a pizza, was like a slice of christmas in my mouth. Without any exaggeration.

In the arvo (after a long nap due to food coma) we started up the birthday garden party at our house. Tonys gift from his parent caused some minor injuries, but other than that it was a really good night with a lot of snacks, sangria and lovely people.

Nostalgic mid week dinner

When I first became vegetarian (I probably mentioned this before, but this is how grateful I am about it) I was 17 and I was living at home with my parents. I was one of the newbie-lucky-vegans who had a mum and a dad that didn't have a problem at all with my vegetarianism. When I came home from school the day that I had made my decision and told them about it, they didn't try to talk me out of it or anything, if anything I think they saw it coming ages ago.

Some of my vegetarian friends have told me that they had to start cook their own dinners when they went vegetarian, but like I said, I was lucky and my parents continued to make vegetarian dinners for me and they really got into it aswell, and I think they were inspiried with trying something new.

One of the dishes my mum made (originally a chicken recipe which she made vegetarian) me alot because I loved it so much was this quorn, spinach, green bean meal. And the other day I decided to try to make it vegan, with tofu and oh-my-god. Almost as good as mums vegetarian version!

Thank you again mum and dad for never trying to talk me out of my vegetarianism. <3

WOW NO COW NICE CREAM found in Auckland CBD - Zero Moo

I was on my way to $5 Wednesday at Academy Cinema, where I, by the way, saw the movie Me and Earl and the dying girl which was absolutely incredible! If you get a chance to see this brilliant movie, do it straigt away! It's one of those movies that lingers in your thoughts hours after it's finished.

Anyway. When I turn off Queen Street to where the cinema is located I see this huge sign saying  "Zero Moo" and my first thought is. Nah, really? Something vegan in central Auckland? I couldn't believe my eyes when I came closer and saw that it actually was a tiny little vegan store (!!!!) where they sell yoghurt, smoothies and most importantly VEGAN ICE CREAM made from coconut milk.

As usual at vegan food places, there were too many choices and I "had to" try a little bit of all the flavours (and by the way - they were all amazing which made the choice even harder!) So I ended up having two scoops for $8 with cherry/choco and date/tamarind. It was so yum that I just wanted more after I'd finished it.

Apparently this little gem has excisted for only two weeks so far, and as it is a bit hidden even though it's so central I think every one, vegan or not, should go there and try it out. You won't regret it! I will be back there shortly, that's for sure!
