Just a little way off Tauranga city centre, you'll find the most beautiful little area around Mount maunganui.
For us, with no transportation of our own, it meant two bus rides to get here. But luckily enough we live with helpful people and so we were very grateful when Coley offered us a ride there on Wednsday.
We were determined to do the famous Mount Maunganui Summit Track up to the top of the mountain, but since it is very important to have lots of energy to be able to do this, we stopped at Turkish Delights and had some amazing falafel and hummus first. Nomnomnom!!
After that we really did feel ready to rock and start the 25 minute walk in steep stairs up the big Mount.
There are two ways to choose between, one of them is the hard track and the other one, not as steep, the medium one. So we thought, of we're gonna do it we might aswell do it right and choose the hard way (which I kind of regretted in the beginning of climbing all of the stairs, but which also was very much worth doing once we reached the top and were aw to enjoy the stunning view)
When we came back down, Danni and Scott met up with us on the beach, and we had the most amazing swim that we really felt like we deserves after that sweaty mountain walk!
So Mount Maunganui is where we've spent the last two afternoons and evenings after work and it's been so lovely!
The little suburb really comes to life in the early evening and it's so nice just strolling down the streets. We found a little cool pub called Major Toms, where we had a vegan burger (which was a bit disappointing as it was more like a sandwich with no actual patty, just some veggies and mushrooms in a bun really..) and my new favorite drink: Espresso Martini!
